Prayer for our students/teachers/community/schools:

Wayne County

For students vulnerable to violence: that God would interrupt cycles of anger, retaliation, rejection, hopelessness, and destructive belonging before they become irreversible decisions.

For divine relationships: that students who desperately need a healthy adult would be connected to mentors, coaches, teachers, pastors, employers, neighbors, and community members who will consistently show up.

For discernment: that educators, counselors, parents, law enforcement, ministry leaders, and community partners would recognize warning signs early and know how to respond wisely.

For belonging: that young people searching for identity and acceptance would find healthy communities instead of finding belonging through violence, gangs, destructive friendships, or criminal activity.

For our mentors: that God would stir the hearts of adults across Wayne County who have wisdom, time, experience, and love to give, and move them from “somebody should help these kids” to “Lord, is it me?”

For ACCESS: that LIFT would faithfully steward what we now know, freely share resources and opportunities, connect the right people to the right organizations, and never allow valuable information to stop with us.

For our schools: that every campus would be covered in peace, wisdom, safety, healthy relationships, and adults who are attentive to the whole child.

Let’s not only pray for a successful school year.

Let’s pray for interruption, connection, protection, transformation, and lives changed.

Prayer for vacancy and church workers:

Peace Lutheran Church

"Please pray for all vacant congregations and all pastors, especially those considering calls. For all ministers of Christ’s Church, that they may proclaim diligently the faith once delivered to the saints; for all vacant congregations and all pastors considering calls; and that the Lord would send forth laborers into His harvest and sustain those He has sent, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy."

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore,
to send out workers into his harvest field.”
—Luke 10:2

Prayer for times of disaster:

Most merciful Father, Your ways are not our ways and we have not deserved Your kindness; yet, for the sake of Christ and His Passion, You hear the cries of Your people in their distress. Be with all who endure affliction and calamity and those who have lost possessions and loved ones from storm, hurricane and flood. Spare us, O Lord, for Your mercy's sake! Bless the work of those who bring rescue and relief. Enable Your church to support and comfort those who are suffering, pointing them to the hope and purpose You hold for all who trust in You. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Let us pray. Living God, grant comfort to (personal intersessions) and all who are in need of healing and comfort. When they are afraid, give them courage; when afflicted, give them patience; when dejected, give them hope; and when alone, assure them of the support of your holy people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayers for Deployed Service Members:

Joseph Taffner (USMC)

Josh Jones (USAF)

Seymour Johnson Airforce Base, Goldsboro, NC

Heavenly Father, we lift up to you our church member, (personal intersessions), who is currently deployed, serving our nation with courage and sacrifice. We pray for his safety and well-being, that you would surround him with your protection and shield him from harm. Grant him strength and resilience to face the challenges he will encounter, and may he find peace and comfort in your presence.

We also pray for his family, who are enduring the separation and uncertainty of deployment. Grant them peace and comfort, and may they find strength in your love and support. Help them to remain strong in faith and hope, knowing that their loved ones are in your care.

Lord, we ask for your guidance and wisdom for all of our service members as they carry out their duties. May they be a light in the darkness, and may they always act with honor and integrity. We pray that they will return home safely and be reunited with their families, filled with gratitude and joy.

We thank you for their service and sacrifice, and we ask for your blessings upon them and their families. In Jesus' name, Amen.
